History
Our story starts way back, when we were serving the community through other NPOs around the Inner City.
- 2022 - We first started our work
- 2023 - Registered as NPO and pbo
- 2023 - Made our first partnership with the flames of hope foundation
- 2024 - Struggle in twilight as political parties chased us out of the building.

Innovation of Excellence (IE) was born out of burden and vision.
In 2022, while serving the community of Hillbrow, we saw something heartbreaking — children, especially in the foundation phase, were being overlooked. Most support in the area focused on older youth, leaving the early years neglected. But we understood something many forgot: a broken foundation cannot hold a strong future.
We started small — just a few passionate young people, helping with homework, offering encouragement, and believing in children the world had written off. No funding. No big name. Just heart, purpose, and the slogan we still live by: “Every Child Is a Genius.”
There were challenges. Some days, no resources. Other days, children came hungry or overwhelmed. But we kept going. Parents began contributing R250 a month when they could. Volunteers showed up. Donations trickled in. And slowly, our dream began to grow.
Today, IE is more than an idea — it’s a movement. We now run structured programmes in Homework Support, Extra Lessons, Mentorship, Life Skills, and Sports Development through Jozi Innovation. We have impacted over 500 children, walked with families, and trained youth and adults alike.
But this is just the beginning. We are building a future where every child — regardless of background — is seen, supported, and given the tools to become their best.
